Plans and limits
What your plan limits, what happens when you reach a limit, and where to see your usage.
Each plan sets a few limits and includes some features. Numbers and prices change, so this page explains how the limits work. For current plans, see the pricing page on the website or Plans in the dashboard. Every workspace starts on the free plan until you choose a paid one.
API calls a month
Every call your n8n, code or agents make through Operate As counts as one: ready-made actions, pass-through requests and MCP tool calls that reach a client's service. Nothing else does. A call that never reaches the service, because it didn't answer, doesn't count.
What happens at the allowance depends on the plan:
| Plan | Past the allowance |
|---|---|
| Paid plans | Calls keep working. Each 1,000 extra calls costs the plan's overage price, shown on the pricing page and under Plans, and is added to your next invoice. Yearly plans are billed for extra calls each month. |
| Free plan, or an overdue invoice | Calls answer 429 Too Many Requests until the next period or until you upgrade. |
Extra calls stop at three times the allowance, so a workflow stuck in a loop can't run up an unlimited bill. From there, calls answer 429 too.
Extra calls are your choice. Owners and billing managers can change them under Billing:
- Set a monthly limit in dollars. Extra calls stop once they'd cost more, and calls answer
429until the next period. - Turn them off. Calls stop at the allowance, as on the free plan. The
Retry-Afterheader gives the seconds until the next period, and the message names the day calls resume.
Billing managers get an email at 80% of the allowance, again when it's used up, and when calls stop. Extra calls so far show under Billing, with what's on your next invoice. If you go over most months, the next plan up usually costs less.
Connections are never touched
Reaching a limit never removes a client's connection. Paused calls work again the moment the allowance resets or you upgrade.
See this period's calls, day by day, on the Usage page in the dashboard.
Clients
Every plan except Enterprise limits how many clients you have at once. Adding one past that tells you to upgrade or remove a client, and removing one frees its place.
New clients a month
A client counts in the period you add them. Reconnecting, or asking them for more services, never counts again, and removing a client doesn't give its place back. When you've added your plan's clients for the period, adding another tells you how many your plan includes and when you can add more. Clients you have keep working.
API keys
Plans limit how many live API keys you can have at once; revoked and expired keys don't count.
| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| Creating a key past the allowance | Refused: "Revoke one or upgrade to add more" |
| More keys than the plan allows, such as after a downgrade | The keys beyond the allowance stop working until you revoke one or upgrade |
See API keys.
Features on some plans
Every plan includes ready-made actions, pass-through requests, the MCP server, the n8n node and expiry alerts. These come with higher plans:
| Feature | Without it |
|---|---|
| Your logo on the client page | The page shows your agency's name only |
| Your branding on client emails | Client emails come from Operate As |
| Webhooks | No event deliveries. Dashboard notifications and emails still happen |
| Rate limits per agent key | Keys share the plan's requests per minute |
| Limits to one spreadsheet, calendar or channel | Keys reach what the service's permissions allow |
| Roles and permissions, audit log | The built-in roles only |
| White label and embedding | The client page and emails mention Operate As |
| Single sign-on (SAML) | Sign in with a password or Google |
The pricing page shows which plan includes each. Plans also differ in how many teammates you can invite.
Changing plans
Owners and billing managers change the plan from Plans in the dashboard. The dialog says what's charged today and when the change happens.
| Change | When it happens |
|---|---|
| A higher plan | Straight away. You pay the difference for the rest of the period, and the higher limits apply at once |
| A lower plan | When the period you've paid for ends. You keep the current plan until then |
| Monthly to yearly, or yearly to monthly | When the current period ends. A higher plan billed the other way applies now, and its billing switches then |
| Cancelling | When the period ends. The workspace then moves to the free plan |
Until a scheduled change happens, Plans shows it under Switches on, and Keep calls it off. Cancelling the plan calls it off too.
